Hi Guys

Looking for some advice, i am starting my apprenticeship in February and don't know whether to get a estate car or a van? the current lease on my car is up half way through January and i'l be purchasing either a second hand estate or van.

From your guys experience have you ever had a estate and was it suitable? my thoughts are if i have a van now then it will be perfect in the future once paid for or do i go for a estate cause i don't carry any tools yet but probably will at some point in the future and will still have rear seats.

any advice would be appreciated

Yes, I started with a estate car in the 80s , it just turned into a mucky estate car , so I bought a van.
So in my experience, a car for pleasure and a van for work

You might be ok when starting off with an estate car but you will quickly get fed up when you build up your tools and they don't all fit in and it's all a dusty mess! And a van is massively more professional

Leave the estate cars to the painter and decorators.

ye that's my feeling too, if i'm going to pay for something i'm going to keep then it has to portray the right image to people, i am more for the van than the estate

Or u could go for a 18 wheeler with custom made trailer/workshop

It depends on your personal circumstances, obviously a van is more practical than a car, but do you need or can you afford a car also?

At the time I went for the estate car coz I wanted something fast so I got a volvo v70 T5 but that ended me up in court as a result of my bank job driving style lol

Between 6-7k ideally, there's loads of well priced berlingos in great shape, I also like the Nissan NV200, what are anyone's thoughts on small vans like citreon nemo, Peugeot bipper? Will they be to small?
