Bin doin some reading after speaking to a builder I do some work for and it's got me thinking has anyone got any info on osb being used for overboard floors to fit ditra to as osb comes in tongue and groove so in theory the joints are much stronger than a ply join ?

I'd never even thought about using it till it was brought to my attention but I've bin doin some reading and maybe it could be used it would have to be OSB3 or OSB4 maybe I should fire a email to schluter to check with them if it's suitable

Why not use one of the many tile backer board types?

OSB used to be very dimensionally unstable with moisture content.

It depends on the grade there 4 grades OSB1 OSB2 OSB3 OSB4 it's 3 and 4 which seam to be suitable for the job from my reading
I've mentioned tile backer boards but I think it's gonna be ply or osb

Where does Ditra come in this thread?
I thought the OP was suggesting fixing 12mm Hardie direct to joists.

It would of bin ideal to rip the old boards up and use hardi floor straight over the joists
Well as your assumption was 12mm backer boards,
My assumption was Hardie 19mm structural boards, as the op mentioned Hardie floor, to me that doesn't read backer board!
And maybe I did make an assumption that he was going to use Ditra.
All I was asking was for u to quantify your statement john.
