I have taken up old ceramic tiles in my kitchen. Underneath are the original vinyl type tiles stuck on a concrete sub floor with black jack, tarry toot, bitumen. the tiles are firmly stuck down and I do not really want to take up because of the possibility of them containing asbestos. The old ceramic tiles came up very easily as the tile adhesive had not really adhered to the vinyl tiles. Can I use a primer on the vinyl tiles are do they have to come up. If they do have to come up will I have to prime the bitumen?
Thank you in anticipation of replies

Marley's. Easy enough to take up but if they're properly well stuck down then clean floor, paint on a slurry coat and tile.
