My battery packed in a couple of weeks ago, just completely dead, wouldn't even power the dash clock. Managed to bump start and get to garage 3 miles away. My plumber came with me and then took me back to pick it up at 5.

I've been pretty lucky though, only ever had one serious problem when the engine management failed on my last van, so I sold it to a guy who exports vans to Africa and they fix them out there, and I just got a new one.

I'm going to have to pile my kit into the wife's ford focus tomorrow.
Then drop the van at the garage..
Then drop her off at work..
Then go to my job....
Then go back to the van to get the one piece of kit that you need and left on there...(it always happens).
Then finish my job....
Then Pile everything back in the focus....
Then Pick the wife up...
Then get the van... If ready.... If not then repeat again...

Really is a nightmare...... It's like loosing your legs...

turns out it was a small metal pipe, part of the cooling system, it had corroded and split....... Bad news is to get to it they have had to strip down the entire front end of the van....bumper, radiator, power steering pump.... Etc, just to replace a £30 part, I'm going to end up with a £350 to £400 bill.. :(

Crikey, you might have to start working 5 days a week to pay for it...

regarding the question.
I do not know answer, it is not never happened. :)
if the van is in warranty,
I go to the dealer and gives me a replacement machine.
if it is not in warranty, my mechanical friend,
She comes to my house with a car
in replacement and goes with my van.
otherwise, the fastest solution is
give fire to the van that does not work.
I do feel like setting fire to it sometimes.!!
You get to a point where I've spent so much on it you have to stick with it, I could spend 4k on another van and have exactly the same problem in 6 months time...... At least I know the things I've done so far...
