hello, ive got a job coming up and there could be a deal with the step at the entrance of the wet room. ive looked in tilemaster product guide and it says you can tile on top t&g boards after priming with prime+grip primer. Has anyone done this before??

Nope and if it's a wet room how are you proposing to tank the floor?

well on the tilemaster product guide it says T&G,Prime,Adhesive, tile. this seems dodgy to me so will have to buzz them tomorrow. the other option is no more ply, adhesive, 6mm insulation, ufh, slc, waterproof, tile. but will leave an unsightly step at the door

It may say it's suitable for tiling over, but it depends what the situation is. I suspect that most of the guys on the forum would not tile directly onto T&G as you are just waiting for a failure. If you could explain exactly what you are proposing for floor as it's gone from tiling onto T&G to NMP, Addy and so on, then we can advise accordingly

They have probably walked up stairs to get to wet room is stepping up an inch that much of a problem . Build it to last belt and braces . Then purpose made wooden threshold in doorway to deal with floor levels . Function over form . You will always get over form but you will never get over function ie not working or not lasting .

As long as floor is deflection free just glue and screw 6 mm insulation board, ufh ,then self level.

The 'other option' is obviously the correct method.
Is this a job your hoping to get paid for or is it a DIY project for yourself.
Some replies have me wondering which forum I'am on!

Without sounding (as my EX misses says) ...contra sending :) the step at the door is the least of your worries!!
