Licking your finger introduces protein to the mix before the silicone has cured which in turn harvests the dreaded black mould! Never lick the finger when siliconingif corners still have manufactured edges I tend to use licked finger, if corners have cut edges I usually snip the corner off a glazing packer and use that as a profiling tool, (usually wet that with a sponge first)
