I discovered what appears to be luan underneath an old laminate backsplash. I can't remove the luan and was thinking about using Durabase Cl++ Uncoupling mat over the luan so I can tile the backsplash. I can't find a product to use to attach the Durabase to the plywood.
Durabase answered a similar question on their website by saying, "The Durabase CI++ is made for floor applications for tiles 2 inch square and bigger, however you can use it on kitchen backsplashes. The OSB should be primed and the thin set mortar to be used to set the Durabase CI++ should be suitable for OSB applications."
Granted, I don't have OSB, but I'm wondering two things:
1) Should I use primer and if so, what primer would be best?
2) What thinset will adhere the Durabond to my luan?
I've searched for hours and can't find a solution.
