Strange thread starter topic I know
When i used to work in a tile shop many moons ago a tiler used swear by using condensed milk to reaffix loose tiles mainly on the old victorian floors
Fact or Fiction ??
Fact, I have also heard this but it was even before my time
probably more Mr Pordums era ;)

Think it's something to do with the casein in the milk reacting with the lime often used in a Victorian tiling.
Think it's mentioned in Spons workshop receipts published in the 1800s!

Tile Shop

When washing up, I often wonder whether you could use mashed potato or bean juice as a tile adhesive, as they normally dry, harden and stick to plates and bowls like s*** to a blanket.

But condensed milk.... never heard of that one. But its fun to hear some of the old techniques and would love it if this was a true fact. Although wouldn't try it personally.
