Hey peeps,

New member to the forum but not to tiling, some fantastic tips and information on here

My first question - Finished the floor below yesterday and it made me wonder, has anyone got tips for marking out tiles around problem areas such as toilets, pedestals etc... I have no problem making neat cuts but its so time consuming marking the tile larger than needed to be safe, then using the trial and error method of nipping away little bits at a time.

Thanks in advance!

Agreed - taking them out is option number 1, but you well know this isn't always possible. Cardboard is a good idea, but i keep wondering there must be another way/product that can be used to make it even simpler and quicker to get an exact cut measurement for awkward cuts...

Right, thinking cap on until i come back with a killer idea!

To be honest Kimbo I read your post and it sounds amateurish... then looked at your photos and your cuts look spot on. Petrfect in fact.

But by not removing the toilet you are making you life harder and your customer is getting an inferior job. Not in a tiling sense but as overall options should an alteration need to be made.

BTW whoever installed that toilet is an idiot for the way they fixed it.
