I have just been told this is seraphite, just about to tile it, wasn't going to prime as I thought it was just sand/cement. House is 1955. Cheers

Hi, thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I can't do that though because its a tiny cloakroom toilet and every cm counts! Even tiling was a concession because it reduces the rooms width by about 3cm!Not having any idea what seraphite is, I would be tempted to mechanically fix backer board over it then tile to that, just to be safe.
Hi, Well it may not be, I was just told that that is what it is... what does it look like to u in the photo? Is in a downstairs cloakroom loo. At present I plan to use no primer as I don't know what the substrate is (and I've heard pva is a no no for tile adhesiveThats a new substrate on me. I’ve never heard of Seraphite. ?

Ah thanks, I'm sure that very good advice, but I don't know what it is... if I primed with acrylic primer or sbr, and it turned out to be gypsum based plaster... would that be a disaster?
Not used it lol. But primer is required imo mate. Don’t over apply so not to create a skin.Dave, BAL flex one is the adhesive
Ok, i know that is wiser, but what primer? (Considering i can't identify the substrate)Not used it lol. But primer is required imo mate. Don’t over apply so not to create a skin.
Ah, so is that ok for gypsum based substrates too?Bal APD. 😁
