For what good the ply will do for insulation with the ufh then i would just rip it up and tile onto the floor it's self...

Honestly we are not giving you advice to cause you grief, we are here to make sure you have a long lasting installation....Your tiler needs educating as well i think...

Do yourself a big favour and remove the ply...and just tile the floor ...you will probs need to mechanicaly remove the glue but you want the job done right...

The choice is yours really and we wish you good luck....

that would mean me ripping the kitchen out and i cannot do that.

thanks for your time.

nothing chap only the fitted kitchen
If it was me, I would cut the play at the perifery of the kitchen and the units (leaving them in situ) and lift the ply away completely. Speak to our sponsors Uheat and get some 6mm insulating backer board and glue this down where the ply was originally, with proper tiling adhesive and if possible, as Dave has said, plug and screw it as well. Lay your ufh mats/cable and then cover over with SLC. once the SLC has set tile you floor as you were going to do.

You say cost is an issue here. Any additional cost you incur will be more than made up in savings on running your heating system with the insulating board installed and in addition, your tiling will have a much better chance of survival.

is there any difference from BB Insulation boards and Ekoboards?

they both are the same spec

see link below

6mm BB insulation board - £4.00 : Planfigure LTD, The Warm Floor Company - UK Specialists in Underfloor Heating Kits & Installations.
Going by the photo, they look the same as ecoboards, says pack of 30, can you buy individually? glad you're doing the right thing, too many people come on here wanting the 'wrong answer' if you know what I mean. Good Luck
