Hi all

Looking for some advice on the Wedi system.
I’m installing a Wedi Fundo Riolito Neo 1200 x 800mm former on a suspended timber floor (25mm ply on joists with Wedi board over rest of floor and on walls).

Looking at a number of videos on YouTube it seems in the US that the Wedi trays tend to be rebated (a “dado” as they say) along the top edge of the tray where any Wedi board meets the top of the tray. That joint is then filled with Wedi 610 and no further waterproofing of the joint (such as tape and Wedi 520) is applied.
The installation instructions for the tray I have make no mention of that approach and suggest the tape and 520 should be used for all joints.

Does anybody have any experience of this specific tray and more generally the approach you take to joint Wedi tray/board and Wedi board/board on both wall and floor?

Thanks very much

Hi, I haven't installed a wedi tray but have installed very similar trays. I always tape all of the joints with a butyl waterproof tape and have never had any issues. You will always get a small amount of background movement between the tray and the walls, so I would use tape and 520 as they recommend, belt and braces.

How did the wetroom installation go? Send us some pictures
Hi, apologies, yes the install went well. Very easy to use, I went for a combination of the 610 and 520 in different areas in the end.
Tray was easy to install. My one comment for Wedi on this particular tray would be to suggest they make more sizes/make them more customisable in size to allow for specific site conditions.

I’ve attached some photos. Floor construction was 25mm ply screwed down every 100mm, Wedi 12mm boards, marble herringbone tile (from Mandarin Stone). Walls are 12mm Wedi board and (I think) 20mm on shower head wall to bring wall out flush with tray drain.

I did all the all construction, plumbing and wiring but left the tiling to Andrew O’Sullivan of AOS Tiling (who’s name I got from this forum). I would highly recommend Andrew as a great bloke and fantastic quality of product.
