Hello,
am trying to complete a Victorian tiled hallway (pic attached), loads of questions to make sure I get it right.
I didn't hack through the floor to lay the pipework, previous owners did!
Floor is part solid, part suspended ceiling over cellar. New joists have been installed and are rock solid.
This is what I'm planning:
• make floor solid - done
• now need to level floor - drops 2 inches
• lay anti-fracture membrane - am tight on height on one side of the floor, so no real space for a backer board
- any suggested brand?
• lay tiles
• deep clean and seal tiles
- might hand over to an expert at that point
All guidance appreciated.
Cheers,
TN

This is what I'm planning:
• make floor solid - done
- pipes boxed in and boarded over (50mm marine grade ply, had it spare)
- the remainder filled in with concrete
• now need to level floor - drops 2 inches
- was planning to use Ultraplan Ren Screed
- do I need to need a Mapei primer? (only looking at a 2sq metre area)
• lay anti-fracture membrane - am tight on height on one side of the floor, so no real space for a backer board
- any suggested brand?
• lay tiles
- have already cleaned the loose tiles using brick acid - came up a treat!
- using flexible adhesive (any in particular, any additives needed?)
• deep clean and seal tiles
- might hand over to an expert at that point
All guidance appreciated.
Cheers,
TN
