Hi Scott,

Get yourself a copy of a book called "Ceramic and stone tiling" by John Ripley.

It will give you an insight into the trade and cover tiles, tools, setting out and other methods...it's a good book and it will give you a basic foundation to build you questions around.

Depending on your situation doing a course (4 weeks minimum) is a good way to learn the basics.
