Slate tolerance, what is acceptable.

working on a new build house, for the contractor, (customer supplied tiles) question is what is deemed acceptable in terms of tolerance with regard to slate tiles.

the tiles in question are Piscola 60x40cm, they vary in thickness from 8 to 20 mm, and out of square by up to 8mm.

this involves squaring both ends of every tile on the wet saw before being fitted.

has anyone else had issues with these tiles. do you consider the tiles as supplied ,to be fit for purpose.

Use a Flex CS60 or a 4" after they are down to cut the grout lines wider rather than cutting each one individually. And yes I fully expect them to not be rectified or the same thickness. just laid some limestone that was 16-26mm thick and not square.

Hi corin, thanks for replying, jobs been done now, as the slate tiles were on shower room wall and some were raking cuts, so not practical to cut in-situ.
