Hi all

I'm aware that I should be silicone-ing in the corner of my fully tiled (wet) room.

The corners will be butt joints, as in I will tile one wall (with some margin for error) and then tile the other one up to it with a neat gap for silicone.

1) What gap is recommended large enough for silicone? I guess you want to be able to really get the silicone deep into the gap.

2) Do you silicone the gap after the first wall is tiled before doing the second? In my mind this would possibly be worthwhile like the primary seal between a bath and wall before tiling, also it would remove a gap where water could accumulate. Or are there reasons to not do this? My walls are solid/cement one side, hardiebacker the other, tanked with Mira 4400.

Thanks all
Richard

What I do is finish all the tiling leaving no more than a 2mm gap in the corners, grout making sure not to grout the corners. Then put a 5mm silicone bead down the corners. I use a Cramer fugi kit for the silicone.

No harm in sealing gap in corner before tiling the side walls. Leave 3 or 4 mm gap then silicone corner.
