Why no use a piece of thin wood soaked in water spray silicone with soapy water after gunning and use timber trimmed to size of joint required to removed excess and leave smooth Finnish no fingers .

Once you've mastered the technique - these are the best tool I think.

Use a diluted solution of fairy liquid in a spray bottle, then clean the silicone off with this tool - perfect every time even on mosaics.
