NOW FIX MAPETEX WITH ULTRALITE RAPID FLEX S1

Mapei’s Mapetex is a synthetic, non-woven fabric that may be used as an anti-fracture system together with Mapei’s Ultralite Rapid Flex S1 lightweight rapid setting deformable adhesive.

Jason Brunt, Ceramic Product Manager at Mapei UK commented: “One 1m x 50m roll of Mapetex and approximately five bags of Ultralite Rapid Flex S1 will provide anti-fracture security for your following tiles and adhesive over a 50m2 area. Visit your local Mapei distributor for this cost effective solution for an anti-fracture membrane.”

Mapetex works as an anti-fracture membrane by sandwiching the layers of reinforcing fabric between two layers of deformable cement-based adhesive, such as Mapei’s Ultralite Rapid Flex S1. The joints can then be finished with Mapei grout such as Ultracolor Plus (available in 35 colours).

Contact Mapei’s Technical Services department 0121 508 6970 for more information about specifying this system for your project.

I've used mapetex and it's a good product and good value, but why do you stipulate the use of specific adhesive? Just wondered!

Bal do the same no guarantee with rapid mat if not used with Bal adhesive

Blinkin' stupid then.
If you use these products correctly, why would you need a guarantee? And if you did need a guarantee you can bet you've messed up the installation!
Adhesive is just adhesive when it comes to fixing an uncoupling/anti-fracture membrane surely?

Same with primer ........but at the end of the day primer is primer..........no matter what adhesive you use ....
I used to use sbr but now use Mapei primer g because it is better . I conducted a very unscientific test that is that if you spill it and let it dry it is harder to remove than sbr .

Hi everyone,

HAPPY FRIDAY!

It may seem strange that there are certain adhesives and manufacturers insist on theirs being used but the choice of adhesive is important. At Mapei UK we only recommend what we have tried and tested in our controlled laboratories. We have always recommended that Mapetex can be installed with Ultralite S2 Quick or Keraquick S1 with Latex Plus - a system that provides optimum crack bridging ability.

However, we do realise that optimum crack bridging is not always a necessity so therefore Mapei tested the Ultralite Rapid Flex S1 which passed the required standards and offers a more cost effective system solution. Something to bear in mind is that an adhesive is not just an adhesive and there can be huge differences between quality when selecting the raw materials.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact our Technical Services Department, open from 7am to 7pm on 0121 508 6970 (option 2)

Have a great weekend,
Mapei UK
