When cutting and mitring stainless trims I am struggling to make a good, accurate and scratch free cut. How do others achieve a decent finish?

Are you using a mitre block and fine toothed hacksaw?

If so then you’ll need to file back the exposed cut edge very slightly with a fine flat file.

I use a standard £5 mini mitre block and cut the trim upside down, I also use an old heavy Eclipse hack saw with a good blade. Lightweight new ones are rubbish.

A Quansol mitre block and good quality saw and blade.
Smooth off with file and maybe a diamond hand pad.

This is the best mitre block I've bought..

It has a Grove in it to fit the flange of the trim in so it doesn't slip, and I've screwed mine to a piece of ply so you can get a better grip of it

I use a cheap wooden mitre block from Toolstation and a hand file. Don’t bother using my diamond pads. Never thought about using them TBH

I’m guessing a 120 or 200 grit would be ok. Get it from AliExpress (surprise surprise :tearsofjoy:)

Not sure, I’ve got a fine Bahco one that I’ve had for 20 years. You just need to give it a very fine chamfer to take the edge off. Nothing much at all.
