you dont need to be self employed to obtain a cscs card, this card is atainable by any one over 18,and is issued for differant trades ie plumbing, elecs etc,it is simply a means of telling main contractors that you are aware and have passed a safty test, this card is a must have for you to go on site, dont confuse cscs cards with cis cards that are (or were)issued by the tax office to sub contractors to enable employers to tax subbys at the correct rate. i am sure someone on here will have a number for the cscs people, hope this helps

You can contact the CSCS booking centre on 0870 600 4020 and they can book a test for you locally for the same costs as A1 Assessor has quoted. For more infomration on CSCS cards view their websiate at www.cscs.uk.com On this site you can download a copy of the cscs card application form and read about the diffreent cards and occupations available.

As well as the book you can buy a CD ROM that lets you sit mock tests, which can be very useful and the cost of the disc is about £12 or so.
