Hi,

New to the forum. Have a tiler coming in to do my floor tiles but don't think he's done a lot of slate. We are happy to seal prior to (and after) fitting. We're going to be using either Lithofin MN Stain Stop or Lithofin StainStop Plus depending on how the tiles look after we've applied a test coat to see what the finish is like.

I have a couple of things...

How should we clean the tiles prior to first seal ?

Any comments about which of the sealants might be best ? We are using Topps Piscola if that is of any relevance to the above and are after a fairly matt look.

I've seen comments elsewhere about the variation in depth of these tiles so presume will have to grade according to thickness too and that this isn't too much of an issue

Many thanks in advance

Just it's realised it's not clear - when I said "We are happy to..." etc I mean me and Mrs S and will do this and not the tiler who we will leave to put the tiles down and grout
