How do I calculate what my finished thinset thickness will be after setting a tile?

So I understand a simple uniform square notch such as a 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/2 will leave 1/4 inch

But what about for something such as a U notch that is 9/16 x 3/4 x 3/8?
(id really like to know this one -i bought this one - ihave a floor to do i bought at the 1/2 but read that a u notch provides more coverage, and im in a wet bathroom

when the numbers aren't uniform?

1st number being notch height, second being notch width, 3rd being width of space between the notches
