Hi. Just wondering how to fairly charge my apprentice for fuel used in the work van I have bought for him when he uses it out of work hours.

Add use on apprentice using van on a night

I assume you allow him to? Charge by the mile, 20p per mile should cover most van types.

Be sure to charge extra for Sunday evenings donnutting in a supermarket car park.

Make sure the insurance policy covers private usage before you do anything. If you have and it does, he could be taxable for it, paperwork and hassle for you.

Whenever a van was provided by a firm I worked for, I had to put the petrol in for all usage!

My lad uses my other van like its his own, I've insured it in his name so he builds up his no claims.
I just put diesel in which I think he needs for week, perk of the job if you ask me, I ain't gonna charge him for it

i was told the same when i was handed the keys... its a perk of the job, its why you accept less money than doing it by yourself
