The thickness of the adhesive bed is irrelevant it's the tile thickness that's covered so 10mm is my choice.
sameSquare edge trim, same thickness as tile, so 9mm, 10mm max

8mm notch will be fine so long as your walls aren't all over the show. You don't need to worry about the adhesive compressing down to 1mm as when fitted, the trim won't have that amount of adhesive under it, when pressed into the back of the tile it will sit almost flush to the back of it. You'll see what we all mean when you fit them. Don't go any deeper than a 10mm trim or you'll be building adhesive up an unnecessary amount.thanks guys.
so an 8mm square notched trowel is fine for large tiles like 600mm x 300mm?
and that depth of adhesive will squash down to 1mm thick to make up for the difference between the 9mm tile and the 10mm trim?
