I have two areas either side of a hatch in a partition wall 24" x 18" high. I've removed the 6" x 6" tiles, but due to my previously good tiling (!!), areas of the plasterboard paper / cardboard surface has come off but not down to the plaster. I want to re-tile so do I :-

1 - cut out the plasterboard and replace?
2 - paint with pva?
3 - some thing else?

Option 1, cut out the damaged board, replace, then re-tile. You may need to cut back to the nearest stud so you have something to attach your new board to.

If the paper that has pulled of is about a thou thick then don't worry and don't use pva.
