I'm surprise you ent sold the van as part of your retirement plan ,and bought a relient GT so you can go in the lakes as well
I am selling it soon mate, gonna get a L200 probably, for tools (along with my trailer) and for caravan when we get one. Trying to talk Mrs Doug into keeping Jay Lo (fat *** megane) as it's a belter of a motor, but she wants a puddle jumper to go to work in:rolleyes5:

like a smart car type thing Liz, she wants a fiat 500:yikes:
i used to deal in and restore classic cars doug

a decent one if you can find one will set you back about 5k

ive had a few rough ones through my hands :yikes::yikes::yikes:

get a plastic kiddies car and fit a lawnmower engine

you wont have rot issues and you will get a better car for a lot less money

ignore the above post doug

when you said 500 i was thinking of the topolino , a triumph of italian engineeering .........not

i dont know anything about new cars as i have no interest in them

my missus runs a lovely limited edition peugeot 206 sport which is alovely car to drive

she wants a morris minor so im on the lookout for a decent one at the right money

i run old vans for my business and signwrite them myself

my latest isnt written yet as it takes a lot of work in setting out etc and i want to do the bodywork first

if you run an old van it has to look smart not something you bought off ebay for a few hundred quid

you won't have the headache of road tax will you Mike, with running classic cars?
hi doug

i dont get free tax now as my vans too new

it was a conscious descision to run an older van

it suits my business to run a renovated van

i went looking a few years ago for a classic and fell of my chair at the prices

a roadworthy mk1 escort van was over £10.000 and then it needed work

after a bit of musing at some of the vans i used to run, a60 vans, minors etc that i couldnt afford to buy now it occured to me that i bought them as they were disapearing off the road and were at the bottom of their value

and then sold on at profit as the values were rising

so i decided to do the same again

over the last four years ive had a bedford midi and 2 early transits all bought cheap, restored and sold on at a substantial profit

my business is renovating older properties using traditional materials and methods so a renovated van is a good advert

signing myself shows off my brush skills

people judge you by your van

so for new work a new looking van with vinyl graphics works best

this covers the majority of tilers

the last thing you want is a tatty old builders van

my latest aqcuisition is an early renault trafic , once the bodywork is like new i will sign it myself

i will be driving something that gets noticed

i will post pics when its finished
