On this project we had to completely revamp a tired bathroom with original fixtures and fittings from the 1950s.
We had to update existing lead work, replace all copper pipes and reduce unnecessary pipes in the loft to update the plumbing system ready for new fixtures and fittings.
All walls were stripped back to brick/block and re boarded with 12.5mm plasterboard to ensure the perfect surface to tile on.
As the room was 2m long with the bath being 1.7m a bulkhead was built to allow an exact fit for the bath and also to allow pipework to be concealed.
In addition the bath panel was tiled flush to the edge of the bath to add to the design. All pipework was boxed in and a heated chrome towel rail was fitted.
The left hand wall was tiled in grey/green ceramic and matching grout to stand out from the marfil tiles and grout on the other 3 walls. A recessed mirror was fitted centrally on the feature wall at a height suited to customers needs.
The main feature in the project was that despite having a combi boiler the customer indicated that it took several minutes for warm water to reach the bathroom. We installed a digital shower with an external switch. This enabled the client to turn the shower on and wait till the water reached the desired temperature before entering the shower.
