Best method of sealing porous tiles - Tile Advice

So I had to seal some slate the other week which I did with a paint brush. Just wondered if there was a better method? (I used the Tile Rite stone sealer) and applied 2 coats and then tested with a whiteboard marker on a spare off cut.

Mini sponge rollers and a tray work well, lithofin stainstop or there slate sealer really brings out the colours well and gives a nice shine to slate..

I use a small roller, be careful some foam rollers will fall apart with sealers.
make sure the slate is clean and dry before you start and make sure the sealer is suitable for the area the slate is being used in.

So certain sealers aren't suitable for particular areas?

correct...
as always read the bottle.
example.... Lithofin wet look is not suitable for outside or wet areas.

As above - but I use a 12inch lambs wool roller !
Dip it and drag it across the surface then it won’t give air bubbles to the finish.

In the future I would probably recomend using a company like lithofin or ltp or universeal who specialise in stone and tile finishing only . Personally I find some of the drying times of the fila ranges to slow

I’ll grab some lithothin tomorrow as I need to seal some Quartz mosaic and some large unpolished porcelains

go buy yourself some cheap white cotton towels.
the colour may come out of a coloured microfibre cloth

Any roller is liable to create a foam on the surface, I usually roller an area then give it a once over with microfibre cloth to even if out. These days all I use in universeal rapid all in one, it's usability is very different to Lithofin stuff.
Well as nobody has mentioned it I think I should, you need to use a low water content adhesive with quartz. 2 part is preferred but the likes of Tilemaster ultimate is suitable. I haven't fitted quartz in this situation so can't comment on its suitability ?

I knew why he was asking about sealer so thought I'd mention that here too. It's rapid by name rapid by nature. There's no excess to remove, it dries within a minute in any situation and there's no restrictions for its use on wet stone etc. Give it a go

It is Julian. I've not found a scenario where it is not a better product.

Paint pads are the best way to apply sealants I've found
