Hi, we have suspended floor in our hallway and we have got the wet underfloor heating in this area. We had reengineer wood initially but we extended the area by building porch and would like to place porcelain tiles of 60x60. My builder says that he will put the wood ply and detra mat and will lay tiles with rapid fix adhesive. But he says that tiles could move and come out . Is there any other way to ensure that tiles do
Not come out. He suggested to remove joist and put concrete/screed which will be proper way but will cost in excess if 3k. Please help as work has suspended . Thanks

What is beneath your engineered timber?
As long as there is no deflection (bounce) in your floor, it should be ok.
If there is, you would need to go back to the joists and put in extra noggins or braces to make the joists more stable.
You could then put hardifloor on top of the joist and tile it.

If your tiles are porcelain, there should be no reason for Ditra matting, only if natural stone.

We have suspended floor with joist underneath . We already have polypipe ufh tiles . Do we need to put ply on top of it to stop tiles moving andbgrout coming off. The area is 13 saw meter only . Thanks

Your builder may be an excellent builder, but it would be prudent to make sure that the person tiling, is the same person who has (at the very least) specified how the floor should be prepared, ideally you want an experienced tiler who can prepare the floor personally.
Builders and tiling are rarely a happy marriage!
