I can honestly say

1. winter for fell walking
2. spring for seeing things green up
3. summer for camping and bbq's
4. autumn for salmon fishing

so to be honest I don't really have a preference

You should go up to Walmer & Kingsdown golf course, had a contract to plant loads of trees there a few years ago....they didn't want any rabbit guards around the trees, and as fast as we planted they came along and nibbled them off. :83:
