Since starting core exercises around 2 years ago my discs have stayed in place.suffered for years with bulging disks and sciatica, don't get me wrong,my back still aches but it's more under control now.keep up the exercises and try and set a time to get off your knees every day.(I try my best to take my pads off by half 3)

Know how you feel , I've been off work since Xmas eve , with what can only be described as someone shocking me with an electric fence or ripping something of my leg everytime I try to bend over , or get in or out of a car ! Pain in the hips and down the back of hamstring area ! Tried allsorts of painkillers, physio , acupuncture and now dry needling! Nothing's working and waiting for scans is a nightmare, can't see the end of this anytime soon !

Exactly what I've had, twice, thought it was sciatica, but it's a bulging disc L1, in the base of my spine, exercises from physio sorted it out bit took a couple of months, really wary of over stretching now and I mix smaller tubs of adhesive now so I'm not pulling to one side as much

Ive been using a chiropractor 3x this last week. I had an MRI Wednesday which said I had a herniated disc, I seen him the afternoon n had a little spliff in the evening (dont smoke usually) slept through all night without waking up n woke up for work with no pain at all. Pretty crazy as couple of weeks ago I felt near suicidal with it all lol. Im not saying ganja is good for ya at all but it does help a lot of people in constant pain like MS, fibromyalgia and even cancer.

If turning into a stoner gets you back on the tools power to you. Straight lines buddy. :)

Hahaha no its not my cup of tea usually, but it has helped some folk in chronic pain so cant argue against that, defo not at work though. Wouldnt look good when the customer comes home n all the tiles are laid upside down n im sat in the corner with red eyes n a big smile on my face ha

My brother in law is a painter and decorator, and an absolute stoner, while he's at work, driving, basically all the time. Like normal cigarettes. Just speaking to him is an experience i can tell you.

Don't we all have bad backs lol.
Had the usual bad lower back thing that most of us get but from last June my upper middle back has been really bad.
Got X-ray and scan done and thoracic t3 to t7 are compressed. It's feckin crap.
Lift the kettle, pull your socks off, carry anything, you name it, it aggravates it.
So the problem then, as I always lifted well etc you know all the safety rubbish etc.
But after a good talk with the doctor he has put it down to all the carrying of stuff that has caused it.
Being a one man band and hawking everything myself.
They don't tell you about carrying rubbish on these safety courses mind.

Current thinking on getting better if you have a bad back - keep working. If the pain gets too bad, take a painkiller. I stopped having a bad back when I stopped sitting at a desk and started tiling. However, big caution is about latent back injuries. You need good initial medical check up to ensure your problem cannot cripple you by working. My daughters partner is your age. He is a carpenter and suffers from a back injury that really will need operating on at some stage. For him, following all the advice in the world might just leave him in a wheelchair. Hope yours is not in that category.

Yeah John i thought it was sciatica too , so did the physio , hopefully my MRI will show exactly what it is , then I'll know what course of treatment is best ! If I even think about bending my back forwards , it hurts !
