I've been looking for tile trim for a job im doing in January ( box section with three way mitre). I've cut a three way mitre on my course where it doesn't matter too much if you get it wrong you just get another piece of trim and try again. On these forums I read that Genesis do a corner piece for their trims so you dont need to cut the angles, brilliant I thought so went on their web site found the trim and the corners but couldn't find a tile shop which stocked them in my area, so contacted Genesis through their web site to see if they could help. Got a phone call from a lady who gave my an online store which sold their products and was told to ring this company first and the lady I would talk to will pull out all the stops to get me what i needed. I haven't ordered yet but I'ts great to hear that these companies are really trying to help by being helpful. I know in this economic times companies need our custom but some places i have been in contact with don't seem to bother with customer relations and could care less if you buy or not. Anyway do you 1 specific tile trim company or just what you can get at the time.

Whoever thought that sticking a piece of rounded plastic on the edge of a tile would enhance the finish of a tiling job must have been a DIY specialist with the foresight to make a lot of money while aeshetically ruining the look of a completed work of art!
Tile trim :ban:at the expense of Mitred Corners or Rounded & Polished Edges - NEVER!

timless agree on plastic trim but chrome trim does have its place (protecting edges from chips):8:

Mostly, i be using flat white. Unless the job dictates a different colour. Used a flat black metal trim from B&Q a few weeks ago, which looked really nice with matt black tiles, and more importantly was surprisingly cheap! :D

I kind of agree with you TJ, but ceramics don't really allow for rounded or polished corners and mitred edges are subject to chipping. As tiles rarely have glazed edges I feel that trim becomes more of a necessity. I don't use trim when working with stone, but it has a place with most other products.

To answer the OP, I have used the Genesis trim with pre-formed corners and they gave a good finish and saved a lot of time in cutting 3-way mitres (I had 7 to do!).

I try to avoid using trim I mitre most of my jobs including ceramics, my rubbing stone gets a fair workout.
Anybody do half mitre edges? Mitre one tile and leave the other square?

I agree with tj, trims can look cheap, but on ceramics I sometimes use flat brushed aluminium. Stone, marble, travertine, etc. always polish.

another, i see trim as a necessary evil really, I use square edged mainly. Never use trim when I'm doing stonework tho!

As doug..never on stone work..If i have to use trims on splash backs etc ( ceramics) i use homelux or genesis square edge chrome..square edge trims do give a better finish than a quadrant trim.
