Ive just tiled the back wall of my shower with a hexagonal marble mosaic tile from topps tiles("serac"). Before i grout it i want to seal it with some kind of impregnating sealer/oil etc to prevent it potentiall getting stained and as it seems very porous i dont want it sucking up loads of water. Can anyone reccomend a sealer for this purpose?
Thanks

Thankyou! 👍
I was hoping to seal the marble before i grouted in the hope that it also prevents staining from the grout which i have yet to apply(manhatton grey mapei). Do you think this is a good idea? Or could it affect the grouts ability to bond to the tile edge, or some other problem? The wall itself wont actually get that wet really as its the shower wall itself and the shower is angled away from it, my main worry is grout staining and then soap stains and water penetration long term.

No it will be ok to pre-seal. Make sure the stone is dry after installation and follow instructions on the tin.

Really you have put a pretty looking thing in a place that it couldn't be under anymore pressure ! If you know lithothin stain stop , it does what it says on the tin !! But it is not a marble or grout sealant and does not last that long !it is if you read the product details for use in food prep areas !! No mention of showers !! So really look up a marble and also a grout sealer ! And marble needs care if you want it to last well , it is a porous material , in a wet area , it will need resealing etc

Its definitely for use on marble and infact all stones. Used it for yrs. it even says so on the tin.
It's a stain stop not a marble seal it also says that on the tin and look up product details also says not a sealant ! That's on lithothin website
