Wetroom Former Size brand and type

Hi All,

Please can you advise what former I require for a wetroom area of 1450 x 1100?

Looking through this forum, I know the impey former is not highly regarded. However, Wedi seems to be. Is it possible to cut the Wedi primo 1500x1500 tray down to my size?

The former will be fitted on to wooden joist, so that it’s flush with the rest of the floor.

Thank you for your reply, what is the best method to underboard, I take it the Kerdi tray are not suitable due to size?

Hey to be fair I've installed 2 this year already.
But I used Mapeguard and Kerdi, fixed with Kerdi-coll on mine.
(The drains are still rubbish though - and naff grates)

May I ask what you mean by the drain being rubbish?

Can a Kerdi that size be used for my sort of install?

I've always moaned about them not being integral to the tray and the lack of weep holes to allow sub surface drainage. But if the drain is properly installed with membrane properly fastened in, and epoxy grout is used, I'm happy enough with them. The main attraction is that they sit straight on the joists.
As for kerdi, yes you could but not easily. The edge height would be approx 45mm from memory so your into shaving joists which is not always possible. Plus increased time installing.
The plus side, they look great and integrate to the walls brilliantly.
