Anyone any ideas for waterproofing an Aqua dec other than Tilesafe, ive done a few with Durals Durabase which as im sure most of you will know is the 1m wide roll of fleecy waterproofing fabric. It has worked ok but is a bit of a pain to get in around the drain of the aquadec as its not the most pliable. Im really asking as I was never much of a fan of tilesafe as it always seemed a pain to work with due to the skickyness, I believe they have now brought out a different version which may be a bit better to work with but I havent seen any to comment on it, I even have quite a bit of the original tilesafe on a roll which I should really use up to get rid of it, any ideas on a primer which would work with this as the primer that came with it is long gone.

Thanks
Mervyn

How about using a tray that's inherently waterproof and tileable such as wedi or schluter?

Impey - Still the best tanking product in my opinion.:coffee:

I'm going on their installer course soon. Maybe it can change my opinion because I really don't rate Impey (yet).
I have the opinion that Impey has been in the hands of plumbers and builders for too long.
Long enough to give it a bad reputation in my experience.

Totally agree.....
I went on a hour presentation, in a plumbers merchant :( and there were points in the fittings process and in the claims made of the membrane which, as a tiler alarmed me.
Namely the joint between deck, plastic and wooden floor, asking for crack to form. The claim the waterproofing sheet act's as a uncoupling membrane which can handle 10mm movement in substrate with any damage to tiles!
Couldn't till me what, if any the national or international standards it has passed!
The membrane can have up 160w ufh wire but not limit to wet ufh max out put.
From a plumbers point of view it may tick all the boxes but as a tilers view point whose install could fail, I would not be happy fixing over... Yet!

I'm going to go though because it keeps coming up and whilst I install Schluter and Wedi all day with full confidence, I'd like to be doing the same with Impey. they are shifting lots of units after all...
