Hello. This is my first post in quite a while.
I'm about to build a dummy chimney breast for a wood burning stove. The lower portion will have sides of 7N blocks laid flat, against an existing brick wall. The recess will be quite large (approx. 1200 wide by 1500 high). The sides and the back will be tiled with 6 inch hand made tiles, that are quite heavy (600g each!).
Questions:
1) Would you fix Hardibacker board to the sides and back, or tile directly to the bricks and blocks? Or maybe a different board?
2) Which adhesive and grout would you use?
I'd really appreciate some advice, as I would like to avoid having to re-set loose tiles in the future once the stove is in place!
Cheers
Richard
