We paid to have a new shower room installed just over 2 years ago. They fitted a false plasterboard wall in order to make a smaller shower base fit more easily and then tiled straight over the plasterboard. Recently some of the tiles have fallen off the wall (600x300). I removed the front of the shower base and could see that the plasterboard was soaking wet. He clearly didn't treat the plasterboard before tiling straight onto it and it is now rotten and crumbles away in your hand.

We had this done just over 2 years ago and the tradesman says it is no longer under guarantee and is refusing to accept any liability.

We really want someone who knows what they are doing. Probably to remove the false wall and start again with a larger shower unit. We're in Canterbury, Kent.

Any proper recommendations would be extremely welcome. We used check a trade with the cowboy who did this job 2 years ago, and he came highly recommended.

tiling onto plasterboard in a shower is never a good thing. Same now for plywood sheeting with new work standards. Backer boards should be used which are water resistant. Even then, the wall and internal corner should be fully waterproofed. Silicone looks pretty dire too.
As the tiling process was incorrect from the start, the warranty statement from the tiler is irrelevant as it would take a while before you would notice a problem
