I'll start by saying that I'm not actually going to do this, I was just wondering if anyone thinks it is a feasible idea. If the bonding coat is primed and then tanked with a liquid membrane, will it then become a suitable substrate to tile to? In my mind, I can't think of a reason for it not to work, it just doesn't seem right.

I would'nt, bonding has become finer over the last couple of years and seems a bit more weaker on the surface IMO.

I also find that primer has to be thinned heavily to soak into bonding otherwise tends to sit on the surface because of the absorption of the gypsum and cause a skinning of the primer.
