I’ve just realised the tiler we have booked in is a member on the forum...

We are on such a tile schedule now I’m not sure we are going to be able to find another, we need the tiles fitted in the next 9 days and I’m sure everyone is fully booked :(

Probably the case this time of year.

So I need to insist the tiler buys boards and spends time fixing them properly? It’s difficult arguing with “an expert” with a load of 5 star reviews that I know better!

Are the walls skimmed plasterboard or are they dry lined, as in painted plasterboard.

They're well over weight for either. Removing paint from taped pb will not leave it in a good state. If it was brand new pb it'd still be a risk. I did message the op as in Southampton tomorrow but no reply and that ship will have literally sailed

@hmtiling sorry I didn’t get back to you earlier, I’m not sure it’s doable in one day with the boards as well. Would you be able to fit the Marmox boards tomorrow?

Sorry missed the weight bit.

You are paying for the job to be done so insist on it being overboarded.

Ferry is booked now. The job is doable in a day as no grouting required. Just buy the boards and fixings and get the guy you've booked to use them or find someone else

Most disappointing.
Just read their advert - sounds very professional, it must be really difficult for clients to know who to trust when it comes to finding trades!!
Just had to redo my brother in laws bathroom after a 'tiler' with 20 years experience made a catalogue of errors resulting in total failure. I do feel for the consumer sometimes
