was speaking to a tiler/carpenter the other day and he mentioned about sealing the whole tile, even the underneath where the adhesive goes on,, before tiling is that common practice and should it be does for all natural stone tiles...

also he mentioned about the adhesive bleeding through the natural stone tiles,, so which is the best adhesive to use for limstone etc cement based?. thanks men

No no no no no no! Only seal the top side of a tile. Seal prior to & after grouting.

He is correct regarding bleed though. Choose an adhesive colour which won't show or "bleed" through the tiles (white is nearly always used with stone apart from some dark variants such as slate, granite etc)

Only ever use a cement based (bagged) adhesive with real stone.

Stone jobs are really best left to a professional tiler. A badly fixed stone job can be an absolute eyesore. Have you ever laid real stone before?
