Hello All, I have just joined this forum. Hoping to get some advice/guidance. I'll try to be brief... Brand new newly built bungalow (moved in March 2010). Liquid Underfloor heating. Kitchen, dining, corridor and hallway all one single area tiled with same 60cm x 60cm natural limestone. Small flooding due to plumber's mistake about 3 months ago, led to a few tiles lifting. Developer had all tiles ripped off and new ones relaid, this time with a Ditra Mat underlay. Now, 1 or 2 months after new tiles laid, a large surface of them (about 20% of the whole tiled surface) creak slightly (like "crushed biscuits", or broken glass) when we walk on them, and one tile has cracked along with the grout next to it (a tile on which we very rarely walk...) . Developer assures me the creaking is normal ("it's the Ditra Mat doing its job"...). But when I called the technical department of Schluter (manufacturer of Ditra products) they were very clear, it is NOT normal ("it's a very good indicator of localised de-bonding of the tiles from the adhesive") Anyone had similar experience? Who should I believe? Could anyone recommend a good reliable expert or specialist who could inspect and give us an unbiased report? (for a fee obviously, but hopefully a bit lower than the expert suggested by The Tile Association (£ 900 !!) Would be very grateful for any advice anyone could give me...Thanks !

What area of the country do you live. This may assist getting someone to help out but the problem you will have is the developer party accepting the Tilers findings. That said you do seem to have the backing of Schutler in your favour.

Ok to keep you up to date I have today been to look at the floor in question! and there are a few problems with the way it has been installed and quite a few multiple factors that has lead to the failure of the floor tiling. I am writing a report for rubond on my findings and then rubond will be able to pass this on to his building developer and hopefully he will be able to get the floor reinstated as it should be!
