If the studs are at 600 centres I'd find it quicker to use 12mm hardie and tank. Can any thickness xps board be used in that scenario?

19/20mm kerdi/wedi. Far easier to carry, cut and install.

Surely to goodness the ONLY justification for the superhuman effort required to fit out a room with 12mm HB is if you are hanging paving stones as tiles?!
(as in Yorkshire pavers!)

I thought it'd have to be thicker than that. I'm no fan of lugging it about either

It's surprisingly strong, although in a commercial situation where it could get serious knocking about I'll admit HB would be better for the tiles.
I did a job last year with 20mm kerdi on 600 centres and Porcelthin.
It felt very solid once everything was set, but I know a good kick would smash it!

I'm using hardie on my bathroom walls and you'd understand if you'd met my kids

Has anyone used these boards directly on a screed covered UFH floor?

20mm xps min for 600 centres. Last jacko job I did, studs were 450mm. Used 12mm boards so did as recommended and added studs at 300mm. Time consuming and added timber cost but solid. Would go for this over 12mm hardie anyday.

I used 12mm on 2 floors recently, the first because it was very rough and I needed the extra height, I had a couple boards left so used them today on a small bathroom floor. There’s not one thing nice about them, except there strong as.

I do yes, but the floor I had are large 9 x 2 old joists, 50mm insulation between the joists, UFH pipe, then 50mm screed. Ideally would like a strong surface above the screed so it will be hard wearing in the future/
