Apologies in advance. This question might be asked a lot.

My new house is due completion in May which has a downstairs area of of 65.4 sq.m of concrete screed. I am hoping to get the tiled with 60cm x 60cm large format tiles.

While fishing locally for quotes I have had very contradictory responses which is guess is expected as Everyman does a job differently.

I have been told that I need anti fracture membrane from some while another has said they would rather use 6mm ply instead of matting. Others have said they wouldn’t use any of above but instead use primer/ flexible adhesive.

There has also been various remarks between 8mm and 10mm thick tiles.

From my perspective I only want a quality job that will last as this will feature in the main rooms within my house but also don’t want to be spending on things I do not require. The options above cause for some fluctuations in the quotations I am receiving. I don’t have a problem meeting needs to maintain a quality job, just not got the knowledge to know what is the right way forward.

So here I am reaching out to the world of tilers to seek some advice which would be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks

As long as its cured no need for mat with porcelain tiles and you would never tile onto 6mm ply
so dont go with that one... Acylic primer and flex ady and grout.

Get the builder to do it before you complete, they can get it done before the skirting is fitted and any sanitary wear, saving you loads of hassle.

Are there movement joints in the screed?
