Hi guys,
I'm just after a bit of advice please.

Basically we are splitting a bedroom into a ensuite and bathroom. We will be taking existing plaster off and going back to brick and either half or fully tiling. At a later date we will be having an extension directly below the room and having a supporting wall taken out. I'm expecting / preparing for everything to move and crack, but what could I do to mitigate this happening? Should I be looking for a special kind of board to tile on?
Thanks!
Dave

Personally I would wait to have the extension built first then think about having the ensuite installed.
The kind of movement from having a supporting wall removed could be more than some minor expansion.

Unfortunately it's part of the first extension we are having done so I can't (the toilet is currently where we will walk through to get to the new rooms!) Hence why we were thinking to just half tile with cheap ish tiles for now.

Thanks!

Just do a temporary job for now and do it properly once the other work is completed and has had chance to settle down.

So you will doing a temporary job with cheap tiles and at a later date when most or all of the other works are completed then a complete refurb of ensuite will take place.

Yep, that sounds like it's going to be the best way to approach things.

Slightly off topic, but what are the best boards to dot n dab to brick when half tiling and half painting walls?

Cheers!

plasterboard. and if it is in a wet area then tank it. moisture resistant plasterboard shouldn't be skimmed so make sure it's normal boards
