ok, as thread title suggests, we'll start with walls for this thread. My own personal substrate is sand/cement render, others may like plasterboard, cement board etc..

Gypsol Anhydrite screed for me of course. The more the better

Flat one! :D

Then render done well. :)
that's why I prefer render Marc, usually I do it myself so it's in my own interest to make sure it's flat and plumb, plus you don't have the vagaries of cups and crowns that you can get with timber stud walls.

I love a nicely grinded Anhydrate floor primed and screeded with uzin 110

Anything flat, Plumb and strong enough to take the weight needed, makes no odds to me otherwise
