We are renovating an older bathroom and rearranging bathroom furniture. Getting rid of spa bath and fitting shower removing corner quadrant etc... therefore need to patch up rather than get rid of completely tiled areas.

It sounds like you're basically remodelling the whole bathroom? Just rip the lot off and retile Bumpy whites are pence these days.
