chipboard
White-lined chipboard (also referred to as WLC, GD, GT or UD) is a grade of paperboard typically made from layers of waste paper or recycled fibers. Most often it comes with two to three layers of coating on the top and one layer on the reverse side. Because of its recycled content it will be grey from the inside.
The main end use for this type of board is for packaging of frozen or chilled food, cereals, shoes, toys and others.Health risks have been associated with using recycled material in direct food contact. Swiss studies have shown that recycled material can contain significant portions of mineral oil, which may migrate into packed foods. (Mineral oil levels of up to 19.4 mg/kg were found in rice packed in recycled board.)
I've been to look at a kitchen floor today, 7m, due to an issue with levels the floor has been batternd out and over boarded with chipboard, as it stands it's a disaster, he's layed Ufh on it and slc straight onto the chipboard, no primer, loads of duct tape on the wires, there's creaking. you...

Here's a bathroom I ripped out recently, the floor was chipboard and hardboard, completely soaked through and leaked through causing a huge hole in the ceiling below. Why do people do it?!
Ended up replacing the entire floor with 25mm WBP ply.
Problem:
Tiling a kitchen floor.
Half is covered in bitumen (from parquet floor). Half is a new concrete slab.
There is a 35mm level difference across the floor and is fairly lumpy.
Possible solution No.1?:
Use latex self-levelling compound such as arditex na.
BUT: I am slightly worried...
Hi, I was told that the bathroom chipboard floor has to be laid with plywood of at least 9 mm thick, before tiles are laid. In my mother's house some ago the bathroom chipwood floor was overlaid with 5mm plywood. Is it mandatory standard to use 9mm ply on bathroom chipwood floor? Thanks
Apologies if this has been covered but I could not find much info on aquapanel searching, plentiful on haribacker...

I wonder how many failed floors have come from diy'ers watching this video?
How many thousands of pounds of tiles have been ripped up and skipped into landfill?
Apparently its a trade secrete to PVA straight onto chipboard and then you're good to tile!
I know most guys will have seen this...
Am I right in thinking that it's not advisable to tile directly onto chipboard, this is in the en-suite, and it looks like the water resistant type, ( slightly green in colour ).
The old tiles were stuck onto thin ply, but I had to take that up due to the amount of adhesive that was left on it...
Hi there
I am new to this and I would just appreciate a little bit of advice. I have searched various forums and cement manufacturing companies who claim that chipboard flooring can be tiled on as long as the floor does not move, there are no gaps and that boards are screwed at 300MM intervals...
Opinions please gents. I've been to see a job this morning where the homeowner has seemingly been let down by a series of tilers who were supposed to do the job but now can't. The floor is newly constructed chipboard caberfloor over 6x2 joists with a wet ufh underneath. This has been pressure...
Hey guys think I may be about to make a boo boo!
I am tiling a chipboard floor, firstly over boarding with Hardiebacker. I have cut all the Hardie, hoovered the floor and just primed the floor with neat primer g.
While waiting on the primer g drying (having lunch) I was just reading over the...

I took on a job tiling a hallway which was covered in laminate flooring, beneath which was a green chipboard base. Against my advice the customer wants to save money by using this to take the new tiles. To remove the chipboard would mean removing three walls of book cases which are built on it...
Hi
I have a small bathroom 2.4x2.5m divide by a step up across the middle which is where the bath and basin go. Plumber needs to remove the chipboard floor on the step level to plumb in new bath and vanity.
Considering what to put back down once he's done and that will also be suitable for...
This is about a Victorian conversion property I am buying. I agreed purchase on condition that I fitted out 2 bathrooms.
Builder has constructed the following floor structure:
"The floor make up is as follows.
22mm chipboard glued joints and onto the Ecojoist.
6mm Accusti rubber mat laid over...
Hi guys.
I have always plied floors before and a customer asked me a question that i wasnt 100% sure on.
'why will adhesive stick to ply and not to chipboard'?
i rang my local supplier just to make sure that i was correct and one guy i spoke to said no adhesive wont stick and another said it...
Hi guys, been asked to tile hall/wc with chipboard floor but have advised not to tile on chipboard. So I am removing it along with plastic dpm and polystyrene insulation. This leaves concrete.... so starting from that, has anyone done this and did you latex bare concrete after priming, then...
