Hi, It's been a while, but here's my final update. As my first tiling experience I was pleased with the results! In the end I realised that structural movement (e.g. thermal / humid expansion of house materials) was the biggest enemy, and I used jackoboard tape at all floor-wall and wall-wall corners. I didn't use Ardex, but went with hydroban laticrete across the whole floor and to join the jackoboard tape to the hydroban floor / jackoboard walls. Packing out the joists with spacers (under the ply) and the help of a laser level worked beautifully to create a steady slope across the whole floor. I used PVC cladding on the ceiling from Wickes. It looks nice and professional and soft if you bang your head. The rainshower shower head at 45 degrees was an experiment, but works very well. Having a concealed LED strip shining across the feature wall is really beautiful. One year later and no leaks, and nice toasty UFH. I have also learnt the advantage of masking tape and silicone tool for silicone, and went for flush silicone in gaps wherever possible.
