does anyone do it ever ? I've not personally done it but have seen people do it, how does it effect the seal?

I wouldn't. I'd imagine it would work into the joints outside of the silicone bead and profiling it would be mare catching on unfilled joints.

@impish what is your reason and what is your usual size of silicone profile

I've never really given it a lot of thought. Cleaner, less dust and contamination I suppose. Also avoids grout getting in my internal corners. I try and keep the joint as small as possible, using fugi tools - 4,5,6mm depends how good my cuts are!
