Hi there, I've been emailing tile companies and none seem to be able to offer me any advice on my query. So I thought I'd ask the experts in here! I'd like to tile the lid/top (hinged to access record player) and base of a hi-fi cabinet that I've renovated. As far as I could see it's either wood, or chipboard with a wood veneer. I've sanded and primed it with Ronseal all surface primer. I have black and white 50mm square porcelain tiles in a chessboard style on mesh sheets that I'd like to tile the top and base with. However, an email conversation with BAL said that normal tile adhesive will not work as the flexibility of wood will cause the tiles to crack/not adhere properly. Would you be able to offer some advice regarding how I can achieve a strong bond to the cabinet without the tiles failing? Other suggestions I have been given from are to use Evo-stik Impact contact adhesive or Sticks Like S*t grab adhesive to glue the tiles down. Some people at my workplace have suggested tiling onto backer board with regular tile adhesive but at 6mm in depth this would raise the profile of the lid/base and make it look a bit silly. As tiling experts, I’d really be grateful for some advice from you as I don’t know where to begin now and my nice tiles are just sitting unused on the floor! Thanks in advance Emma
